Since the introduction of Buddhism from China in the mid-7th century, candles have been a part of Japanese way of life. Today, however, the use of candlelight is usually limited to Buddhism or other religious services after the appearance of the electricity. These lovely candles burn virtually smoke-free and are highly valued among the Buddhism temples and shrines.
